Jacquie Hoornweg, MCM, ABC, she/her, president and managing partner

Jacquie Hoornweg  was a member of the executive leadership team at Ontario Power Generation (OPG) from 2011-2014 leading the Corporate Relations and Communications team across Ontario. This followed progressive positions at OPG in media and public affairs management, including community, First Nation and Métis relations, as well as internal employee and leadership communications, crisis and issues management and brand management. 

Since then, Jacquie has divided her time between her energy communications and policy companies, Querencia Partners Canada Ltd., and its subsidiary, Joule Communications, and serving in leadership and faculty positions in academia.  

A former energy, environment and political reporter and news editor (1994-2003), Jacquie is a regular contributor on nuclear technologies and policy, including for Nuclear Engineering International. She developed COGnizant Magazine (produced for CANDU Owners Group) and served as editor and creative director from 2015-2021. Jacquie has facilitated and produced several strategic business plans and annual reports working as a partner with senior leadership teams to define their strategic goals and business plans. 

Jacquie has worked independently and with others to develop several booklets to help make nuclear knowledge accessible to a range of audiences from decision makers to community members and rightsholders. 

She is committed to supporting equity, diversity and inclusion with the strong belief the best teams are created from diverse life and work experiences and the best communities are built on a foundation of fairness. 

Jacquie is a fellow of the Canadian Global Affairs Institute (CGAI). In 2021, Jacquie was awarded the nuclear industry’s Howard A. Smith Outstanding Contribution award for her work building relationships between the nuclear industry, policy makers and communities across Canada and internationally.  

Jacquie earned her master’s degree in communication management at McMaster University in 2014 and has taught reputation management in the program since 2016. An adjunct professor at Ontario Tech University, she also teaches energy policy in the political science program. 

When she isn’t working or hanging out with her family and her dog, Jacquie supports early-career professionals as a mentor and facilitates workshops on managing the fine and sometimes challenging balance between work and life.
